Photograms and Rayographs.
A photogram is a camera-less photograph and is an image that is made with photosensitive material like photographic paper and light exposure. You have to go onto a dark room where there is no direct sunlight and It works by placing objects directly on to the paper and the exposing it to light. This then makes a negative shadow that can vary depending on the object. Parts of the paper that has not been exposed to light remain white or appear grey.

Why are they called Rayographs?
|
Here are some of the photograms/ Rayographs I made in my photography class:
Image 1:
This was the first photogram/rayograph I made. It wasnt very successful as I don't like the composition of the objects. Also I could have left the objects on for longer so that they had more of a bold outline as the tape recorder came out blurry and doesn't look very sharp aswell as the tape and piece of wood. I like some of the shapes created by overlapping. |
Image 2:
This was the second photogram/rayograph i made. I prefer the composition of this one more than the first as it is not as crowed and I have overlapped some of the objects. By overlapping some of them came out bolder and brighter than the others which I found to be very affective. I think i could have improved it by leaving the objects on for longer to make them clearer and to have stronger outlines. |
